Design of a firmware for a microcontroller’s Hardware Secure Module

The proposed thesis requires to design a firmware for a HSM (Hardware Secure Module) Peripheral of a commercial Microcontroller. HSM firmware shall manage MCU’s security mechanisms like memory protection, secure boot, firmware validation, secure firmware update, secure communication. The thesis requires also to build a POC (Proof of Concept) of the firmware for a chosen off-the-shelf commercial hardware platform
Safety of the intended function: analysis of potential hazards connected to autonomous driving vehicles and machine learning

The proposed thesis explores the concept of risk assessment in vehicles implementing ADAS and autonomous driving systems, considering the hazard that are not only coming from failure scenario but are also related to potential misbehaviors of the functions that are implementing the decision-making system of the vehicles. Such analysis shall consider the entire chain, from data acquisition performed by sensors to the core of the vehicle intelligent system.
Implementing ISO 56001 for Innovation Management: Framework and Strategic Implications

The proposed thesis explores the practical and strategic implementation of ISO 56001, the international standard for innovation management systems. The research focuses on how organizations can leverage this framework to foster innovation, improve operational efficiency, and sustain competitive advantage. It will examine best practices, common challenges, and key success factors through a combination of literature review and case studies in real-world corporate settings. A comparative analysis of ISO 56001 against other innovation methodologies will also be conducted to highlight its unique value. This study aims to provide actionable insights for organizations seeking to enhance their innovation capabilities while complying with the standard. The aim of this study is to realize flexible connection systems for electronic control units according to automotive standards.
Design a flex PCB with high current and communication for long distance.

The proposed thesis explores the design of multilayer flex PCB for long distance (up to 2 meters). The flex shall be used instead of a traditional wiring harness among electronic devices for automotive application. The design requires the implementation of both low voltage power supply connections (up to 50A) and high-speed communication (CAN bus 1Mb and ethernet bus 10/100 Mb).
The aim of this study is to realize flexible connection systems for electronic control units according to automotive standards.
Design of a customizable framework software to manage Penetration Tests and FuzzTests on automotive ECUs for ISO21434 validation

The proposed thesis requires to design a modular customizable framework software to run fuzz tests and penetration tests on embedded ECUs for automotive applications, in order to achieve ISO21434 validation requirements of the ECU for vehicle omologation. The framework shall be capable to save and load the test environment in order to replay tests. The framework shall be capable to produce test result reports
Firmware development of an automotive Ethernet switch with PoDL (power over dataline)

The goal of the thesis is to develop a prototypal firmware for an electronic control unit that implements automotive ethernet, with the additional feature of the Power on ethernet with power line protection, that is innovative in automotive field. The thesis consists of a firmware to be written in C code mainly (including microntroller abstraction layer, middleware and application example), and to test it on a dedicated test bench to be prepared during the thesis.
